What if the phrases we've always used to teach ballet, the ones passed down through generations, are actually working against the body?

This 3-hour workshop with Dr. Kendall Lynch invites you to slow down and take a closer look at the language commonly used to shape ballet technique. Through a blend of evidence-informed discussion and guided self-discovery, we'll examine how familiar instructional cues influence the way the body moves — and explore more sustainable, nuanced ways of understanding and teaching that movement.

We'll work through a selection of common ballet cues, unpacking what the body is actually doing in response and opening up new ways of thinking about how we access and communicate movement. Expect lecture, hands-on exploration, and the kind of "aha" moments that make you want to go straight to the studio and try it all again.

Who Is This For?

This workshop is for dance educators, recreational dancers, professional dancers, and dance medicine and physical therapy professionals — but honestly, it's for anyone curious about their body and how it moves. While we're exploring these ideas through the lens of ballet, you don't need a ballet background to find value here. If you're interested in different ways of accessing and thinking about movement, you're welcome. All movement backgrounds are encouraged to attend!

This workshop is free and open to the public. Come curious!
