Ballet Check-in: an Open Studio Practice #1

  • Bim Bom Studios 5226 West Belmont Avenue Chicago, IL, 60641 United States (map)

Educator: Tuli Bera

Oftentimes when we think of a ballet class - we accept that we will be expected to go through the standard/traditional ballet barre, center, and across-the-floor combinations. This session encourages a pause for inquiry and conversation as a way to check-in with what we are doing and why we are doing it. As the person facilitating this practice, it is my responsibility to seek out what is important to those who participate. Each session will differ based on who is in the room. We will focus on and explore (but not be limited by) the following fundamental aspects that encompass Ballet technique and how they all relate to one another through ballet vocabulary and other forms/disciplines of movement that our bodies/minds hold:

  • Alignment/Placement

  • Weight Shift

  • Balance

  • Ground to Air Transitions

  • Dynamic Range of Motion

  • Dynamic Range of Speed

PRICE: These sessions are all pay-what-you-can / donate to Tuli’s 3Arts Campaign
